We are currently looking for a talented Cyber Security Engineer for one of our major clients in the financial sector.

 

Location: Athens, Greece  or  Nicosia, Cyprus

Mode of working: Hybrid

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team to safeguard both internal infrastructure and customer-facing systems. As a mid-senior level professional, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures across our technology landscape. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data and systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain security controls for internal networks, endpoints, and systems.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans, patch management, and system hardening activities.
  • Monitor and respond to internal security events and incidents.
  • Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) systems, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and data loss prevention (DLP) tools.
  • Support internal audits, compliance efforts, and risk assessments (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST).
  • Secure cloud environments, APIs, and external-facing applications through proactive testing and monitoring.
  • Conduct security assessments on web applications and services (e.g., penetration testing, static/dynamic code analysis).
  • Assist with third-party/vendor security reviews and integration assessments.

General Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support incident response efforts including forensics, root cause analysis, and remediation planning.
  • Research and evaluate emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies.
  • Document security architecture, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to security awareness initiatives across the organization.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 4–7 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, with exposure to both internal IT security and external systems security.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, operating systems (Linux/Windows), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Proficiency with tools like SIEM (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel), vulnerability scanners (e.g., Qualys, Nessus), firewalls, and IDS/IPS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, OSCP, CISM, AWS Security Specialty).
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipeline security.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • Experience working in hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud).
