We are looking for a talented Data Scientist to join our team of IT professionals on behalf of a government sector client based in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct studies, prepare reports, and apply relevant AI legislation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to address technical challenges and ensure AI Act compliance.
• Monitor high-risk AI systems and consult with the European Commission’s database.
• Organize training and awareness activities for SMEs, startups, and local authorities on the AI Act.
• Prepare reports and recommendations on AI systems and compliance assessments.
• Assess AI system risks and evaluate compliance.
• Monitor developments in AI, cybersecurity, and network security.
• Contribute to AI-related legislation drafting.
• Advise on incident notifications and participation in EU working groups.
• Handle confidential information securely.
• Perform any other assigned tasks.

Required Qualifications:

1. University Degree or equivalent qualification in at least one of the following subjects:

• Artificial Intelligence
• Data Engineering
• Machine Learning
• Data Science
• Electronic Engineering (including Computer Engineering)
• Computer Science
• Statistics and Applied Mathematics
• Cognitive Science

2. At least 1 year of experience in a related field.

3. Excellent knowledge of the Greek language and either English, French, or German, as per the language proficiency requirements of the Public Service Commission.

Additional Qualifications (will be considered as an advantage):

• The ability to register as a member of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) in the relevant engineering field.
• At least 1 year of experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or any related field.
• Experience in the following areas will be considered an advantage:
  • General Purpose Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Regulatory oversight and enforcement in any related area
• Professional Certifications related to Artificial Intelligence.
• Experience in compliance assessment and monitoring of organizations providing high-risk AI systems.
