We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Java Engineer to join our growing team on behalf of one of our leading clients in the Insurance sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Software Engineer who is passionate about building robust, scalable, and modern applications using frameworks like Quarkus and OpenLiberty for building cloud-native applications.

The ideal candidate will be involved in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of complex Java-based applications. This role offers a hybrid working model and a dynamic environment where you’ll contribute to efficient, scalable, and reliable solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams on API and service implementations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java applications ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.

  • Build cloud-native applications with Quarkus and OpenLiberty frameworks.

  • Create and maintain RESTful and SOAP APIs, ensuring seamless system communication.

  • Integrate with third-party systems and support middleware development for efficient data exchange.

  • Apply test-driven development (TDD) using tools such as Groovy Spock and JUnit5.

  • Participate in code reviews, follow best software engineering practices, and ensure code quality.

  • Use Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins to manage CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.

  • Monitor application performance and resolve issues related to latency, availability, and scalability.

  • Guide and mentor junior engineers, contributing to a knowledge-sharing and collaborative environment.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in Java development.

  • Proficiency in Java Jakarta Edition, up to version 21.

  • Solid experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, and J2EE architecture.

  • Expertise in building applications using Gradle.

  • Experience with Quarkus and OpenLiberty frameworks.

  • Familiarity with Java Message Service (JMS) for messaging solutions.

  • Strong understanding of reactive programming principles and patterns.

  • Hands-on experience in automation testing with Groovy Spock, JUnit5, and TDD practices.

  • Experience with IBM API Connect for effective API definition and exposure.

  • Proficiency in SQL for database management and operations.

  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools, including Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Familiarity with source control systems (GIT, SVN) and build tools (Maven, Gradle).

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Completed military obligations (for male candidates in Greece).
