We are currently seeking a talented Release Manager on behalf of one of our major clients in the Banking sector.
Location: Athens, Greece
Working model: hybrid
Salary range: 3000 – 3300 euros gross
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Release Manager with a strong technical background and proven IT Project Management experience to lead the planning, coordination, governance, and execution of software releases across our banking technology landscape. The successful candidate will act as the bridge between business stakeholders, development teams, infrastructure, testing, security, and operations teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality releases while maintaining system stability, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
The role requires a deep understanding of software development lifecycles, release management processes, project management methodologies, and banking systems. The Release Manager will oversee complex releases involving core banking platforms, digital channels, payment systems, regulatory initiatives, and enterprise applications.
Key Responsibilities
Release Planning & Management
- Develop, maintain, and manage enterprise release calendars across multiple applications and platforms.
- Coordinate release schedules, deployment activities, and environment readiness across cross-functional teams.
- Ensure all releases follow established governance, approval, and change management processes.
- Lead release planning meetings and release readiness reviews.
- Manage release dependencies, risks, issues, and conflicts across projects and programs.
- Drive continuous improvement of release management processes and tools.
Project Management
- Manage technology projects from initiation through deployment and post-implementation support.
- Define project scope, timelines, milestones, resource requirements, and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress and ensure delivery within agreed schedules and budgets.
- Facilitate communication among technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and senior management.
- Prepare project status reports, dashboards, and executive updates.
Technical Coordination
- Collaborate with development, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and production support teams.
- Review technical deployment plans, rollback strategies, and implementation procedures.
- Ensure application, infrastructure, and database changes are properly integrated into release plans.
- Support CI/CD and DevOps initiatives to improve deployment efficiency and reliability.
- Coordinate environment management activities across development, testing, UAT, and production environments.
Risk, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure releases comply with banking regulations, internal policies, audit requirements, and security standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and mitigation planning for major releases.
- Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and obtain necessary approvals.
- Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and release records are maintained.
- Support internal and external audits related to technology delivery and change management.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for release-related communications.
- Manage expectations of business stakeholders and technology leadership.
- Coordinate release communications, outage notifications, and deployment announcements.
- Facilitate post-release reviews and lessons learned sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT project delivery, release management, or technology program management.
- Minimum 2 years of experience within the banking, financial services, or fintech sector.
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Experience managing enterprise-scale application releases in complex environments.
- Strong technical understanding of application architecture, databases, middleware, APIs, cloud platforms, and infrastructure components.
- Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) and Change Management processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum Master, SAFe, or equivalent certification.
- ITIL Foundation or ITIL Managing Professional certification.
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of banking systems including Core Banking, Digital Banking, Payments, Treasury, AML, KYC, or Regulatory Reporting platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization platforms.
- Experience working within highly regulated environments.
