We are currently seeking a Senior Python Developer on behalf of one of our major clients in the banking sector.

Location: Athens

Mode of working: hybrid

Seniority: Senior (5+ years of relevant experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Python Developer with over 5 years of professional experience to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable, high-performance applications and has strong problem-solving skills. Experience in the banking or financial services sector is considered a plus, but is not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain robust Python-based applications and services
• Write clean, efficient, and reusable code following best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and other developers
• Optimize applications for maximum performance, scalability, and reliability
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
• Integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
• Work with databases, APIs, and third-party integrations
• Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making
• Ensure security and data protection standards are met, especially in regulated environments

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of professional experience in Python development
• Strong knowledge of Python frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI)
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Strong understanding of software development best practices and design patterns

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the banking, fintech, or financial services industry
• Knowledge of data security, encryption, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS)
• Experience with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Exposure to data processing, analytics, or machine learning workflows
