We are currently seeking a talented Data Engineer on behalf of one of our major clients in the Technology sector.

Location: Athens, Greece

Working model: hybrid

Salary range: 2400 – 2700 euros gross

Job Profile:

We are looking for a Data Engineer with 2–4 years of experience, ready to take the next step in their career and contribute to designing, developing, and optimizing modern cloud-based data platforms. The primary focus of this role is Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, Dataflows, SQL, Spark), while also leveraging complementary technologies such as dbt, Azure Data Services, and Databricks – with exposure to additional platforms depending on project needs.

The role entails:

• Design, develop, and maintain Lakehouse architectures in Microsoft Fabric (Medallion – Bronze/Silver/Gold layers)
• Develop and optimize Data Pipelines & Dataflows for ingestion and transformation into OneLake
• Build and manage Parquet files & Delta Tables in Fabric Lakehouse
• Implement SQL-based transformations using dbt integrated with Fabric and Databricks, alongside PySpark notebooks where required
• Apply software engineering best practices in SQL development (modular models, testing, documentation, lineage via dbt)
• Develop SQL solutions primarily on Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, Snowflake, Qlik Talend, or similar data platforms
• Optimize performance and scalability of Fabric and Databricks-based data solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end data integration solutions
• Contribute to data modeling and curated data marts for BI & analytics workloads
• Utilize Git for version control and collaboration

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, or a related discipline
• 2-4 years of experience in data management and data integration
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be comfortable working with deadline schedules to meet changing needs to ensure timely, accurate project completion
• Leadership ability, interpersonal skills, communication skills and customer focus
• Strong SQL skills & hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Warehouse/Lakehouse), Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar data platforms
• Hands-on experience in PySpark for data processing
• Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and Lakehouse concepts
• Experience extracting or integrating data from SAP source systems (ECC, S4/HANA) into modern data platforms
• Experience with dbt for SQL-based transformations
• Experience using Git for versioning & collaboration

Not Required, but Great to Have:

• Hands-on experience with SAP BusinessObjects reverse engineering (Universe/report analysis, unx/unv/wid) and/or SAP BW data models (InfoProviders, extraction logic) – not required, but will be weighted heavily as a strong differentiator
• Familiarity with IBM WatsonX.Data (Presto SQL, Spark engine), IBM SPSS Modeler, and/or IBM DataStage – not required, but will be weighted heavily as a strong differentiator
• Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700)
• Databricks Data Engineer Associate certification
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data workflows
• Experience with Power BI and DirectLake connectivity
• Understanding of Semantic Model design in Microsoft Fabric (measures, relationships, performance considerations)
• Ability to build analytical dashboards in Power BI on top of Fabric Lakehouse or Warehouse when required
• Experience with Qlik Stack (Data Integration & Analytics)
